Cancellation of Domestic Employee Absence from Work Notification

The employer is permitted to raise a request to cancel an absence from work notification from the domestic employee.

Service Conditions

• The applicant must be the employer.
• If there is a desire for the employee to transfer to another employer, the current and new employer, in addition to the domestic employee, must attend the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.
• If there is a desire to submit a new application for the employee to the same employer, the current employer, in addition to the domestic employee, must attend the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.
• The employer is required to have an unused work permit.

Required Documents

Process Description

1. The current employer and the new employer accompanied with the domestic employee must visit one of LMRA’s branches.
2. Fill out all the data in the application form and attach the required documents.
3. After 7 working days have passed, the new employer will refer to the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) to obtain an extension of the grace period so that he/ she can apply for a work permit for the domestic employee.
4. After obtaining the extension of the grace period, the new employer must:
   • Visit one of the Authority’s branches if he/ she was going to apply for a new domestic work permit for the employee.
   • If he/ she was going to a apply for the employee on a Commercial Registration (CR), then he/ she can apply for the new work permit via the Expat Management System (EMS).
